Assists with patient's rehabilitation activities to maximize physical fitness or treat or prevent injury. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing.
Assists with intake of patients including medical history, initial testing, and any other intake requirements relating to office visit. Communicates results of testing to physician.
Collaborates with physicians, physical therapists and other applicable providers to evaluate the patient’s physical condition and advise and treat athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness or to treat or prevent injury for participation in athletic competition. May prescribe routine and corrective exercises as need.
Assists in the treatment and/or prevention of injuries by treating chronic or minor injuries and related disabilities to maintain athletes' performance.
Provides discharge instructions and release paperwork, instructions for home and ongoing care, schedules follow-up visits, and makes referrals to other healthcare providers as prescribed by physician or physician’s assistant.
Follows-up with patients and ensures ongoing communication with patients, school personnel, etc. as required.
May assist with facilitating communication sessions as needed.
Participates in special projects or completes other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree Kinesiology, Sports Medicine
or related field
6 Months Team sports or related experience.
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.
• Demonstrates sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in
questionable or emergency situations.
• Maintains a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
• Good computer skills using a medical management application.
• Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
Licenses and Certifications
LAT - Licensed Athletic Trainer Licensed by State of Texas
National Athletic Trainer
Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC)
