Position Highlights

Work location: Texas Health Presbyterian Allen, 1105 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX 75013.

Work environment: Admitting Department – Patient Access Services.

Work hours:

  • PRN/As Needed; Non-benefitted.

  • Must be available to work 8-hour shifts between the department business hours of 7:30am – 6:00pm.

  • This position will be required to float to Texas Health Plano, 6200 W Parker Rd., Plano, TX 75093 and Texas Health Prosper, 1970 W. University Drive Prosper TX 75078., with Texas Health Allen position being the Primary role.

  • Must be available to attend training/orientation initially for 2-3 weeks from Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Salary range: $15.57/hour – Maximum: $25.08/hour, based on relevant experience. Plus, shift differentials between $1.00/hour - $2.00/hour, as applicable.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen is a 73-bed, acute-care hospital serving the northern Collin County area since 2000. Hospital services include women’s care, a Level II neonatal intensive care unit, orthopedics, pediatrics, wound care and sleep medicine. Texas Health Allen, a Pathway to Excellence® designated hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, has more than 500 physicians on its medical staff practicing in more than 25 specialties. Texas Health Allen is a World Health Organization-designated "Baby-Friendly Hospital" and was the first hospital in Texas to receive the distinction. The hospital is a Level IV trauma center and an Accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, which makes our facility intensely qualified to serve our community and your professional aspirations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1 year of related experience required.

  • Other hospital and physician office experience is helpful.

  • 1-2 years of Hospital Patient Registration/Patient Admissions experience highly preferred.

  • Medical Insurance Verification and Scheduling experience preferred.

  • CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate upon hire preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Requires good written, oral, and telephone communication skills.

  • Requires knowledge of general office equipment, PC’s and associated software packages.

  • Ability to type 35 WPM corrected for errors preferred.

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology highly preferred.

Position Responsibilities Texas Health Presbyterian Allen Admissions Specialists are responsible for providing an excellent patient healthcare experience at each Texas Health site, this candidate will obtain and verify patient demographics, review insurance benefits, prepare cost estimates, collect coins/copays, complete MSPQ as needed and accomplish patient education, regulatory requirements and all duties set forth in Patient Access Services. Proficient in all PAS areas, cross trained in multiple workflows, Promise Pal onboarding of new hires and extensive customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Accurately gathers complete financial and demographic information to ensure medical records/billing process flows efficiently.

  • Obtains and/or updates verification of benefits and/or pre-certification for applicable tests and/or procedures.

  • Prepares, presents, and thoroughly explains applicable legal, ethical, and compliance documents; ensures proper consents are signed by the appropriate parties. Maintains documentation of the same.

  • Maximizes reimbursement for services rendered by appropriately identifying insurance carrier, benefits, etc. Prevents denials by ensuring timely notification of admission to insurance carriers.

  • Assists patients in understanding financial obligations; collects co-payments, self-pay deposits, and patient balances to reduce Accounts Receivable.

  • Stays abreast of and complies with applicable regulations, entity and/or system policies and procedures. Maintains customer service and/or productivity guidelines set forth by applicable leadership.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.
