Business Intelligence Performance Specialist

We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Performance Specialist like you to join our Texas Health family.

Position Highlights

  • Work location: Texas Health Resources Corporate Office: 612 E Lamar Blvd, Arlington Texas 76011. Primarily remote however must live in the DFW area or be willing to relocate to the DFW area.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Science, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology Data Analytics, Statistics, or related discipline. And

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Science, Information Technology Data Analytics, Statistics, or related discipline preferred.


  • 3 years of experience relevant analytics experience in BI/EDW or IT Development, Healthcare, Consulting, Finance, Analytics, or a closely related field with significant hands-on job experience using modern BI visualization software, data preparation tools and/or SQL development to support decision making with a Bachelor’s degree required or,

  • 1 year of experienceRelevant analytics experience in BI/EDW or IT Development, Healthcare, Consulting, Finance, Analytics or a closely related field with significant hands-on job experience using modern BI visualization software, data preparation tools and/or SQL development to support decision making with a Master's degree and,

  • Experience in Healthcare, Marketing, Digital Marketing or related field.

  • Strong SQL Skills (required)

  • Teradata SQL preferred, but not a requirement for consideration as long as they have enterprise level database experience (i.e., Oracle, MS SQL, etc. )

  • Hands on Tableau Development Experience (strongly preferred)

  • Alteryx Designer and/or Alteryx Connect experience (preferred)

Position Responsibilities : The Business Intelligence (BI) Performance Specialist is self-motivated individual responsible for the development and support of business intelligence reporting and analytic solutions. They work with internal business units, analysts, and key stakeholders to understand their information requirements and design, develop, and implement BI Reporting solutions using a variety of BI technologies. They often collaborate with, provide technical assistance and training for analysts to support THR's self-service enablement strategy. They may also have production support responsibilities for the production BI application content. Additionally, they will provide technical and documentation support for THR's Data Governance efforts. Their work will support business decisions, and could span across multiple areas such as consumer experience, clinical quality, hospital operations, supply chain, finance, etc.

  • Collaborate with business leaders and SMEs, analysts, EDW team, application teams and other stakeholders to rapidly design, develop, test, and implement production Business Intelligence solutions. If necessary, develop interim data integration processes using standard BI visualization and data preparation tools. Automate dashboard data preparation/integration using THR standard data preparation technologies. Promote use of EDW as a data source and adhere to EDW architectural standards. When necessary, adhere to development and support standards for BI production dashboards that source directly from non-EDW sources. Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on performance, scalability, and adherence to standards.

  • Assist analysts in developing their technical capabilities and aptitude to support self-service enablement. Follows and shares best practices and standardization for development of BI analytic assets. With minimal guidance, augment analyst teams to jump start team development and analytic efforts.

  • Support production BI applications to manage source system changes, optimize application and ensure availability, accuracy, security and acceptable performance.

  • Comply with THR information security and privacy policies, ITSM processes and Data Integration development and design standards and best practices. Follow data governance requirements and documentation including but not limited to business definitions, technical definition, and may function as data SME. Support data governance initiatives though data analysis, and documentation of governance related questions. Contribute and maintain data catalog to ensure information assets are well documented.

  • Develops interrelationships among business leaders, partners, customers, and analysts who have similar information needs. Manages those relationships to assure effective solutions. Mentor and train business stakeholders, analysts, and information consumers on data, business intelligence-related technology and information assets, best practices, and standards to support the BI Self-Service Enablement strategy.

Skills :

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Strong analytical or problem-solving skills are required. The demonstrated ability to interpret the information provided and ask clarifying questions to understand the underlying needs that need to be addressed.

  • Recent experience using modern BI data visualization software is required. Recent experience with relational databases and using SQL to perform data exploration and preparation for reporting is required. Skills should include working knowledge on how to create queries, joins, filters, conditions, subqueries, tables, views, group by attributes and how to accurately perform counts, calculations, and other data aggregation.

  • Knowledge of the SDLC, ITSM and privacy and security concepts.

  • Experience delivering BI solutions through rapid, iterative delivery methods such as Agile, Kanban, or Scrum preferred.

  • Able to take on at least three projects concurrently and manage changes in scope along the way.

  • Development experience with some combination of the following applications is required: • Tableau or equivalent data visualization software • SQL (Teradata, Oracle, MS SQL or equivalent) • Alteryx Designer or equivalent data preparation software • Alteryx Connect or equivalent enterprise data catalog application • Teradata or equivalent Extended Data Warehouse technologies

  • Additional experience with any of the following is preferred: • Jira or Azure Dev Ops • Salesforce Service Cloud, Health Cloud, Marketing Cloud and/or Datorama • Google Analytics and other Digital Marketing Platform data • Using API connections to access data • SharePoint Configuration and Administration.
