Texas Health Resources CMO Reliable Health in Arlington, Texas
In a high-performing dyadic relationship with the Chief Nursing Officer of Reliable Health, the Chief Medical Officer of Reliable Health is responsible and accountable for achieving and sustaining positive differentiation of consumer-focused clinical care in all segments of the core business, leveraging consumer insights and research, consumer-centric design principles and relevant strategies, tactics and objectives established at the System level to design and deploy solutions that provide Reliable Health in all venues of care. This officer is expected to work in close collaboration, coordination and integration with the four channel leaders, as well as the leadership teams under the Chief Experience Officer, Chief People Officer and Chief Financial Officer, to advance the ongoing transformation of Texas Health in a nimble, adaptable and action-oriented manner. The direct reports to this position that are shared with the CNO of Reliable Health include the SVP, Clinical Informatics; Senior Directors of Research and Clinical Risk Management; and, the Medical Director of the Physician Leadership Council/PLC Policy Council.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Responsible and accountable for the successful deployment, execution and sustainability of all system strategies, tactics and action plans for Reliable Health across all relevant channels, and doing so in accordance with the specifications established by the system’s executive leadership
Responsible and accountable for the ongoing design, deployment and refinement of the culture, processes and systems by which Texas Health will ensure provision of highly reliable, consistent and affordable clinical care of exceptional quality and safety in all channels and clinical products
Responsible and accountable for development of standardized policies, pathways (including the development of Reliable Care Blueprinting modules in close collaboration with experts from the system’s Transformation Office), guidelines and clinical specifications that reduce unnecessary variation in the clinical delivery and/or costs of care to consumers in every relevant channel, including the use of change management strategies and tactics to ensure successful hard-wiring of system standards and specifications into clinical practice
Responsible for providing clinical expertise in the collaborative design and development of new care models as well as redesigned and reimagined care delivery (collectively referred to as care model transformation) in all segments of the Texas Health enterprise
Responsible for performance and accountability management of all direct reports based on annual operating plans that set forth clear and measurable goals, priorities, objectives and key results that are tightly aligned with system strategies, tactics, action plans, deliverables and specifications
Responsible for establishing systematic and highly reliable processes for the identification and sustainable spread of better clinical practices throughout all channels, with emphasis on clinical decision support, optimization of the EHR and clinical risk management across the enterprise
Responsible for highly effective engagement and alignment of medical, nursing and other clinical leaders (whether employed, contracted or independent) in service of advancing Reliable Health
Responsible for talent development and succession planning within the dyad’s span of control
Serve as a thought leader and significant contributor to the development of action plans to advance specific strategic initiatives and optimize reliability of care delivery in all settings
Serve as a role model of Texas Health’s mission, vision, values, leadership behaviors, Promise standards and Code of Business Ethics; practice servant leadership with a focus on collaboration
An MD or DO with board certification in an ABMS-recognized specialty is required. Successful candidates must obtain a license to practice medicine in Texas within one year. An MBA, MHA, MMM or a master’s degree in another health-related field is preferred. Progressive clinical leadership experience (CMO, CQO or equivalent) for a minimum of ten years, with at least five years in a complex health system or integrated delivery network is required. A documented history of successful initiatives to redesign care and reduce variation in care delivery and costs of care is strongly preferred.
