Qualifications

Qualified candidates for the full time Neonatal ICU RN will possess the following:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associates degree in nursing is minimum.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • RNs hired after January 2017 require completion of BSN within 2 years of start date. RNs hired

between January 2014 and December 2016 require completion of BSN within 3 years of start date.

Required minimum experience:

One (1) year experience as a clinical nurse (RN), or completion of an RN residency program.

Level III Neonatal ICU RN experience within the last 2 years is strongly preferred.

Required license/certification:

Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire;

Current AHA BLS/CPR certification upon hire.

Credentials specific to specialty as defined:

  • NRP certification required upon hire

Required skills (if applicable):

A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Direct Patient Care of Level 3 infants

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

(Must obtain BSN within 2 years from date of hire)

Minimum of 2 years or more recent Level III Neonatal ICU (NICU) experience (from within the last 2 years) as a RN

STABLE certification is helpful

Flexibility with schedule

Prefer 3-5 years level III NICU and delivery attendance experience preferred.

  • Neonatal Certification within 2 years of hire.

  • Basic computer skills/knowledge - Microsoft Word and Outlook; computerized charting on EPIC/Care Connect

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

DEPARTMENT:

  • This is for a 20-bed Level III Neonatal ICU.

HOURS:

Full-time: 6:45PM-7:15AM, 36 hours/week, (3) 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and holiday coverage. Self-scheduling.
