Coding & Billing Compliance Team Lead

Position Highlights

  • Work location: 9330 Amberton Parkway, Dallas, TX 75243

  • Work environment: Regulatory Compliance

  • Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday thru Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

  • Salary range: $26.05 - $40.72 per hour (based on relevant experience)

Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) is a not-for-profit physician organization with more than 250 locations and 800 physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants dedicated to providing quality care in clinics and medical offices throughout North Texas.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

  • 3 years ICD-10 and CPT Coding in an Ambulatory Setting (required)

  • Excel proficiency (strongly preferred)

  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS Coding Rules & Guidelines (required)

  • 2 years Provider Coding & Documentation Auditing (preferred)

  • Knowledge of Ambulatory Electronic Health Record Systems used on Physician Practices such as Allscripts, EPIC, or Next Gen (preferred)

  • CPC – Certified Professional Coder Upon Hire (preferred)

  • CCS-P – Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based Upon Hire (preferred)

Position Responsibilities THPG Coding & Billing Compliance Team Lead will support management in coordinating the THPG Coding Compliance Auditing and Monitoring Program by; tracking audits, facilitating workflow, preparing reports necessary for this process, and additional task as requested. The position also reviews data to identify risks or trends that may indicate the need for further review. Assist the Coding & Billing Compliance Manager with coordinating the day-to-day coding and billing compliance audit functions, such as selection of services to be reviewed, submission of records to external auditors, etc. Identifies opportunities to improve the auditing process and helps in development of new processes. Assist with medical record audit workflow, including submission of documentation to auditors, receipts of reports, and other processes necessary to complete the audit cycle each calendar quarter. Additional task as assigned by the Coding and Billing Compliance Manager. Assist leadership with analyzing audit results; identify patterns, trends or variations in coding and documentation practices, and make recommendations for improvement as appropriate. Works with management to address coding and billing compliance issues. Assist management with Quality Assurance of coding reviews and training as appropriate. Assist/Coordinate tracking and delivery of audit result packets to the appropriate persons as identified by leadership. Coordinate Medicare and other government program audits including tracking of denials and appeals (RAC, MAC, etc.). Serve as support to THPG physician/coding educators who conduct provider coding & documentation education. Coordinate with leadership in development of provider training plans and for active support in the training process. Assists with preparation of educational sessions to physicians on proper documentation, such as preparation of educational packets, etc.

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful Coding & Billing Compliance Team Lead will have

  • Demonstrated ability to create, edit and format Microsoft Word documents, including spell check and to utilize templates and toolbars

  • Demonstrated ability to create, edit and format Microsoft Excel documents, including auto-sum, sorting and basic formula functions

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties as needed

  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality

  • Good telephone etiquette, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
