Work location: Texas Health Physicians Group; Dallas
Work environment: Regulatory Compliance
Work hours: Full Time 40 hours, 1 st Shift Monday – Friday; Temporarily working remote
Salary range: $25.53 – $43.10 per hour (based on relevant experience)
Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) is a not-for-profit physician organization with more than 250 locations and 800 physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants dedicated to providing quality care in clinics and medical offices throughout North Texas.
Bachelor’s degree required
4 years of experience in lieu of degree required.
- 3 Years of clinical coding documentation and physician billing/claims audits required.
CPC – Certified Professional Coder upon hire required or
CCS-P – Certified Coding Specialist – Physician upon hire required.
Communication: Facilitates and presents to individuals and/or groups at all levels within the organization.
Process a clear, straightforward, and reasonably concise style in writing documents.
Provides coding and documentation.
Investigation and Coding Audits:
Reviews professional claims and corresponding records to verify that coding and billing are appropriate based on current guidelines and medical policy.
Determines the most effective and efficient methods of investigation based on each case Analyzes the data collected from internal and external resources that supports the investigation.
Documents all steps of investigations.
Applies knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial insurance rules and regulations pertaining to appropriate billing and coding of accounts.
Conducts audits according to the Compliance work plan and as requested.
Documents clear justification to support all irregular findings.
References the appropriate sources used to support findings.
Records the financial impact of incorrect coding, communicates findings effectively with Compliance Director and providers in both written and verbal form.
Coding, Billing and Abuse Identification:
Identifies potential coding/billing concerns through the use of data analysis, concerns brought forth by various parties and other available means.
Performs the audit process based on findings.
Works across departments to facilitate the reprocessing of claims, enhance system edits based on case findings, and provides education on coding or billing issue found.
Helps conduct training for both internal and external clients on new coding initiatives.
