Texas Health Resources Physician Billing Coding Denials Resolution Coder II CSC/CCS-P - Full Time Days - Dallas in Dallas, Texas

Texas Health Physicians Group seeks to hire a Physician Billing Coding Denials Resolution Coder II CPC/CCS-P to work Full Time Days in the Coding and Reimbursement Department located in Dallas, TX.

The address is THPG Corporate - NorthPoint III 9250 Amberton Parkway, Dallas TX 75243. Temporarily remote – will return to office.

Salary range is Min: $22.50/hour to Max: $35.22/hour – based on relevant experience.

Work Hours/Schedule

  • Full Time; 40 hours/week.

  • Monday – Friday, 1 st Shift

  • Shifts and hours may vary after training (to be discussed with manager)

Job Description

Responsible for abstracting and assigning valid CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement in accordance with federal, state, and private health plans as well as organization and regulatory guidance. This role is typically responsible for moderately complex coding with general oversight.

  • Accurately abstracts information from the medical records assigns ICD-9/10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS level II codes in compliance with established guidelines. Provides codes to various departments upon request.

  • Reviews supporting clinical documentation for physician-based services and procedures to ensure accurate code assignment in support of third-party payer guidelines. Maintains documentation to record/track discrepancies.

  • Validates charges using appropriate tools and validates diagnosis with the medical documentation provided.

  • Compares hospital charges posted against procedures coded and identifies any discrepancies. Notifies leadership of any discrepancies and collaborated to rectify the same.

  • Participates in special projects and completes other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required and

  • Associates Degree in related field preferred.

  • 2 years of Coding experience required.

  • Completion of college level courses in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, or similar required.

  • Coding denials, denials resolution (appeals, reconsiderations, corrections, payor inquiries), physician billing on the (CMS-1500 form) for office and hospital charges highly preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • CPC - Certified Professional Coder (CPC) upon hire required or

  • CCS-P Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) upon hire required or

  • Other Specialty certifications such as CGSC, COSC, CCC, etc., upon hire preferred.

Skills :

  • Thorough understanding of health insurance and medical costs.

  • Knowledge of third-party billing regulations, professional operations, and third-party payer requirements.

  • Must be able communicate effectively.

  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.

  • Must processes a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.

  • Must have proficient computer skills, with the ability to learn internal application systems.
