Texas Health Resources RN - Oncology - FT - Nights in Dallas, Texas
Full Time - 7p-7a and alternating weekends/holidays
A 23 bed medical/surgical unit that focuses primarily on the care of oncology patients.
• All patients are managed by attending physician with consultants available as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Treatments and activities performed include but are not limited to:
o Internal radiation therapy
o Remote cardiac monitoring
o Blood product administration
o Oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, spinal cord compression, neutropenic fever)
o Pain management
o Physical and occupational therapy
o Patient and family education
o Discharge planning and teaching
o End of life care
The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is based on an acuity system but typically ranges from 4-5 patients per RN. PCTs are also utilized to assist RNs in the care of patients.
BSN preferred. RNs hired after January 2014 require completion of BSN within 3 years of start date. RNs hired within THR after December 2016 require completion of BSN within 2 years of start date.
Minimum one year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
Current AHA BCLS training upon hire.
Chemo Bio card within 6 months of hire.
ACLS, charge nurse, and OCN preferred.
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
