Texas Health Resources Specimen Processor in Dallas, Texas

Texas Health Physicians Group is seeking a Specimen Processor to work full time in their laboratory. The primary location will be at North Point Laboratory.

North Point Laboratory is located at 9229 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75243.

Salary range is Minimum $13.23/hr. to Maximum $20.02/hr. – based on relevant experience

Work Schedule:

  • Full Time; 3 rd Shift

  • Monday – Friday; 7:30 PM – 4:30 AM; No weekends or holidays

Job Description:

Using limited judgment, the specimen processor is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing all specimens received at North Point Lab for testing.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately reconciles specimens and requisitions with a high level of scrutiny to ensure accurate patient identity and proper clinic specimen submission

  • Prepares specimens for send out to reference labs in an accurate manner

  • Performs manifest duties correctly to ensure proper tracking of send out specimens

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • 1 year Accessioning/processing experience in a high volume outpatient lab or hospital laboratory highly preferred

Skills:

  • Ensure Correct data entry into LIS system as specimen is review/received.

  • Works cautiously with attention to detail and avoids repetitive errors

  • Capable of processing equal part of patient workload with extensive attention to detail with no errors/mistakes

  • Clean individual processing areas at the end of each night and document properly as required

  • Document all specimen rejects in accordance with policies on the shared DRIVE

  • Maintain safety working environment by following all NPL Safety policies and guidelines

  • Expected to wear appropriate PPE as required by Exposure Policy

  • Expected to assist all processing team with end of the night duties and processing of any remaining specimens
