  • Work hours: Full Time (40 Hours); Day Shift; Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 5:00 PM; Opportunity to work remote part of the time.

  • Salary range: $30.76 – $48.50 per hour (based on relevant experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education or related field required.


  • 2 years Instructional Design or relevant experience required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPTM Certification preferred upon hire Or

  • CPLP – Professional in Learning and Performance Certification preferred upon hire.


  • Must be an excellent communicator in all aspects of writing, speaking, listening and presenting.

  • Ability to identify gaps in training alignment and solutions for educational opportunities.

  • Ability to build credible relationships.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to shape communications to the needs of the audience.

  • Knowledge of leading adult learning principles and approaches to development (i.e., ADDIE). Strong analytical skills; ability to solve complex problems; highly developed listening and verbal communication skills; excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Functional knowledge of leading training and development tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, including Dreamweaver, Flash, Captivate, and Articulate Suite of products, Microsoft Office, and HTML5. Strong familiarity with LMS technologies. Ability to research and actively seek opportunities to implement the latest tools and approaches to efficient learning, including rapid eLearning development, accelerated learning techniques, etc. Expertise with software configurations and problem-solving methods needed to diagnose and resolve web technology problems.

  • Position requires some design sensibilities, mixed with a fascination for technology, an obsession with learning and an innate drive to share what you know.

Position Responsibilities:


The Instructional Designer curates and creates content for the training teams who executes THPG's training programs to various audiences including THOP leaders, THPG providers, THPG non-clinical and clinical support staff.

The position works closely and collaboratively with other THPG Learning and Development leaders to continuously evolve educational programs to meet organizational objectives and goals.

The position routinely completes training needs assessments through research, data analysis, and employee and/or SME interviews. Identifies training gaps and workflow best practices for effective and efficient work in the THPG ambulatory clinics and creates training content solutions for alignment.

Essential Functions:

Planning and Analysis

  • Conducts needs assessments, performance analyses, course content analyses, learner analyses, and job task analyses to determine most appropriate instructional solution for training-related problem

  • Evaluates the results of training activities using appropriate measurement and evaluation tools: reaction sheets, skill checks, survey observations, interviews, etc.

  • Recommends training solutions based on personal experience and customer feedback and metric analysis to improve current design of offerings

  • Partners with subject matter experts, trainers, and other leaders to ensure course design and deliverable match requirements of training need.

Design and Structure

  • Creates the design of training solutions for diverse audience in ILT, Virtual, eLearning and blended formats using a variety of platforms and applications, including Learning Management Systems, and Learning Experience software.

  • Designs, or collaborates with training department, ITS, and/or other leaders as necessary, to produce training solutions to meet the requirements of learners and stakeholders.

  • Creates detailed design documents, which require the person to derive primary and secondary course objectives, build measurement and evaluation tools, plan learning activities, identify opportunities for performance support and determine ontent needs. Performs periodic evaluation of designed learnings based on trainee's performance.

  • Writes and edits content for learning and development projects, including storyboards, outlines, module/drafts, practice activities, knowledge checks, evaluation material, and job aids, through the application of proven theories of adult education.

  • Responsible for developing and building relevant operational and technical content. Uses effective methods and course authoring tools.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Fosters and maintains relationships within the training teams and across THPG/THR.

  • Consults with stakeholders and subject matter experts to tasked with training and development to advise, guide, coach, negotiate, and manage the development of performance-based training.

Special Projects

  • May include professional duties associated with developing content.

  • Complete actions on special projects as assigned by chain of command.

  • Other Duties as assigned.
