Qualifications/Duties:

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology technology or an enhanced program

Experience:

1 year radiologic technologist experience with MRI experience preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

ARRT(R)

ARRT (MT) with in 12 months ,

CMRT by either TDH or TMB

BCLS with in 30 days of hire.

Hours/Schedule:

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Ability to perform quality MRI studies. Good customer service, interpersonal and communication skills required.

PATIENT CARE

  1. Uses multidisciplinary, team oriented actions

  2. Assesses and recognizes the patient’s emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions

  3. Prepares room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies)

  4. Checks physician orders and exam requisitions

  5. Greets and acknowledges patient, using two forms of ID

  6. Obtain patient history and ensure female patients aged 12-50 complete pregnancy question form

  7. Appropriately handles patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices

  8. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment

  9. Uses proper body mechanics when assisting patient

  10. Processes patient information, displays proper phone etiquette and transports patients as needed

  11. Safely administers contrast media and other medication in accordance with medication administration guidelines

IMAGING PROCEDURES, QUALITY AND PROCESSING

  1. Explains procedures to patient or guardian / family member if applicable prior to exam

  2. Position patient to correct anatomical area of interest

  3. Performs complex MRI procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations

  4. Adjusts technique and protocol parameters appropriately for age related and body habitus factors

  5. Assists radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique

  6. Maintain attention to details and quality control

  7. Processes and manipulates images

  8. Analyzes image quality and technique adjustments and has the ability to verbalize trouble shooting techniques

  9. Provides after hours call support for radiology and/or CT

EQUIPMENT OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

  2. Operates, cares for and maintains all equipment

  3. Applies knowledge of physics and accessories

  4. Troubleshoots and properly documents equipment malfunction

  5. Maintain equipment and room to sanitary standards

  6. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards and performs QC testing

  7. Screens all that are to enter the MRI scan room for possible metal objects

  8. Removes all E-Cylinders, IV Pumps and any other metal objects prior to entering the scan room
