Work location: Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104.
Work environment: Scheduling Department – Patient Access Services.
Must be able to attend 2-3 weeks orientation/training initially, during normal department business hours.
Salary range: $15.57/hour – Maximum: $25.08/hour, based on relevant experience.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is a 726-bed, Magnet-designated regional referral center that has served the residents of Tarrant County and surroundings communities since 1930. Hospital services include cardiovascular care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics and sports medicine, neonatal intensive care, and trauma/emergency medicine. In early 2014, Texas Health Fort Worth will be opening a new 75,000 square foot Emergency Services Center, one of the largest in the region. Texas Health Fort Worth has more than 4,000 employees, 200 volunteers and nearly 1,000 physicians on its medical staff. Texas Health Fort Worth recently received national recognition for its oncology program and was named “Best Place to Have a Baby” in Tarrant County. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1 year of related experience required.
2-3 years of Hospital or Physician Office Patient Scheduling/Registration/Admissions experience highly preferred.
Medical Insurance Verification and Scheduling experience preferred.
CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate upon hire preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Requires good written, oral, and telephone communication skills.
Requires knowledge of general office equipment, PC’s and associated software packages.
Ability to type 35 WPM corrected for errors preferred.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology highly preferred.
Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth Scheduling Specialists are responsible for providing an excellent patient healthcare experience at each Texas Health site.
Schedules testing and/or procedures for multiple departments in an accurate and timely manner ensuring maximum productivity and expedient patient flow.
Performs Medessary checks of medical necessity for patients with Medicare as a primary payor to ensure documentation is in compliance with applicable guidelines.
Effectively communicates with patients, physician office scheduling, surgery scheduling, and/or other necessary staff as needed to reduce appointment time/date errors.
Stays abreast of and complies with applicable regulations, entity and/or system policies and procedures. Maintains customer service and/or productivity guidelines set forth by applicable leadership.
Participates in special projects or completes other duties as assigned.
