Job Description

Oversee shift responsibilities and personnel consistent with department policies and procedures. Develop shift schedule and role assignments for department officers. Provide chain of command structure for the movement of information and escalation of issues requiring manager level involvement. Perform as the "officer in charge" in the absence of the Manager/Director of Safety and Security and provide proper department leadership role in situations requiring administrative involvement.

Conduct effective external and internal patrols of the facility, including, but not limited to, the hospital bed towers, the Medical Office Buildings, and all parking areas and garages. Maintain the security of perimeter doors as well as entrance and exit doors to and from each area.

Respond in an effective manner to emergency situations (e.g., Code Blue, Silver, Red, Green, Yellow, Gray, Black, Pink, Brown, White, duress alarm activations) and to other calls for service. Complete effective incident reports and submit these reports to the Security Manager and/or to the Risk Management Department in a timely manner.

Assist Manager of Safety and Security with evaluating performance appraisals for security officers. Take necessary steps to correct officers performance and adherence to policies and procedures both inner- departmental and organization wide.

Maintain required registration and license and complete all required training in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Education

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required

Associate's Degree Criminal Justice Preferred

Experience

1 Year of Security, Military, or Police experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

DL - Driver License Upon Hire Required And

CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Upon Hire Required And

NCSO - Non-Commissioned Security Officer Upon Hire Required And

CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training 30 Days upon hire Required And

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support 90 Days upon hire Required

Skills

Ability to make independent decisions with tact and with a positive attitude. Ability to give instruction and clearly explain problems or solutions. Strong customer service and problem resolution skills.
