Texas Health Plano seeks to hire a Director Laboratory.
Location: Plano, TX
• Full time, day shift
Provides leadership, direction and supervision to ensure efficient and effective day to day functioning in assigned areas and the appropriate delegation of responsibility.
Establishes formal means of accountability within areas of responsibility toward the achievement of established objectives and related measurable results.
Develops, approves, and oversees the implementation of policies, procedures, standards of care and practice that provide direction for the delivery of quality, accurate results in a timely manner. Directs activities that support compliance with CAP, Joint Commission and KPI benchmarks.
Evaluates staffing and qualification requirements for the provision of services.
Ensures effective recruitment and retention program that meets established targets.
Promotes professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues. Coaches and mentors subordinate staff in order to improve their performance and expand responsibilities. Establishes the processes and participates in reward and recognition of individual and team accomplishments.
Maintains accountability, authority, and responsibility for the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the operating and capital budget for assigned departments. Monitors and evaluates budget variances in order to provide for the continuous availability of quality services, taking corrective measures as appropriate.
Oversee selection of equipment and supply purchases which will increase productivity, enhance patient care and achieve supply cost savings. Prepare and present justifications to Administration having considered cost analyses, decision grids, equipment demonstrations and pathologist satisfaction.
Participates with the other entity leaders in the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans, policies and procedures and decisions that govern hospital wide services and programs. Participates in and leads the development, implementation and management of program and business plans as appropriate.
Develops and collaborates with others to implement the hospital Plan for the Provision of Care. Develops Lab department strategy.
Improved internal and external satisfaction scores. Improved process flow as demonstrated by decreased result turn around times.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology or related field required
Master's Degree preferred
5 years progressive management is required, preferably in a hospital clinical laboratory
Licenses and Certifications
MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist or equivalent required upon hire
Knowledge of industry standards: organizational management; quality improvement and change management techniques; financial analysis, budget process and planning, and familiarity with spreadsheets, accreditation and regulatory standards and the ability to interpret the requirements as applicable to assigned areas, strategic planning principles.
