Texas Health Resources Neuro Service Line Lead Nurse Needed In Plano in Plano, Texas


Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Plano, a Magnet Hospital, is looking to fill their RN Neuro Surgery Service Line Specialist position to work Full Time.

Required Minimum Education:

*Graduate of a NLN (National League of Nursing) or CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited nursing programs.

*For RNs hired after Jan 2014 completion of BSN within 3 years of THR RN start date as defined in offer letter.

*Effective Dec 2015 RNs hired or transferring in THR completion of BSN within 2 years.

*BSN upon hire strongly preferred

Required Certification:

*Current AHA BLS

Minimum Qualifications / Requirements:

*2 years minimum recent Neuro , Scoliosis or Spine Surgical experience required in a hospital setting.

*Knowledge of Nursing Process, strong positive interpersonal skills, ability to read, write and speak English clearly.

*A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of budgetary / fiscal goals; participates in proactive measures to meet and maintain identified system, entity, and department targets.

  • Assists in keeping staff informed by hosting meetings, posting bulletins, and emails.

  • All communications and presentations are of professional quality.

  • Assumes responsibility for seeking out and participating in continuing education opportunities related to role development of the leader / nursing supervisor.

  • Monitors and assesses staff compliance to policy, protocols, and care practice guidelines. Provides just in time training where warranted or initiates progressive counseling when necessary

  • Serves as interim Unit Manager when needed, performing all necessary functions to meet the department, staff, and customer needs.

-Work with physicians to coordinate needed supplies and/or instrumentation is readily available for surgical procedures.

-Be responsible and accountable for facilitating the daily surgical schedule, including working in add-on urgent and emergent cases.

-Coordinate the daily O.R. schedule with the charge nurse.

-Provide direct patient care

-Provides essential leadership and coordination of patient care services related to the daily surgery schedule.

-Collaborates with O.R. Manager, Supervisor and Service Coordinators to ensure daily staff assignments are appropriate and commensurate with associate skill, knowledge and competence.

-Work toward the department, facility and organizational mission, vision and goals.
