Texas Health Resources RRT/EEG - Registered Respiratory Therapist EEG - Full Time Days - Plano in Plano, Texas

Texas Health Plano seeks to hire a Registered Respiratory Therapist/EEG to work Full Time Days in the Respiratory Care Department.

The address is 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, TX 75093.

Salary range is Min. $26.44/hr to Max. $38.61/hr – based on relevant experience

Work Schedule

  • Full Time; 36 Hours

  • Day Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Performs EEG tests as ordered and indicated.

  • Knows correct recording electrodes as well as their appropriate sites.

  • Differentiates between elctrode artifact and true abnormal brain wave activity.

  • Performs patient assessment to assure diagnostic testing is relevant to patient testing needs.

  • Checks bio-cal and calibration of EEG equipment before and after each test.

  • Replaces any malfunctioning cables or electrodes.

  • Reports malfunctions to manager.

  • Uses proper patient identification.

  • Performs test in a timely manner.

  • Makes all previous applicable procedures available for interpretation.

  • Completes requisitions, logging and placement of test for interpretation.

  • Performs Bronschscopies to include Therapeutic Diagnostic Procedures: Bronchial Lavages, Protected Specimen Brushes, Cytology Brushed, Needle Biopsies, Cyroblation and Whole Lung Lavages.

  • Peforms pulmonary-function, lung capacity, diffusion capacity, blood gas testing, pulmonary stress testing.

  • Explains specified methods of breathing to patient and conducts pulmonary function tests.

  • Observes and records reading on metering devices of analysis equipment and conveys findings of tests and analyses to physician for interpretation.

  • Maintains the QA monitors for the PFT Lab.

  • Maintains the QA monitors for the Blood Gas Lab.

  • CAP Readiness and Preparation.

  • Meet with the Medical Director of the Lab as indicated.

  • Ensures orders delivered to patients are for care required by the patient or for taking actions to correct such. This includes RT Protocols, RT physician prescribed orders, verbal orders, transferred orders and E.R. orders.

  • Makes adjustments in care using protocol procedures, the chain of command, calling/speaking with the physician individually or completing a department form referring the patient order to the TL or Supervisor. Includes initiation of as well as discontinuation of R.T. orders.

  • Provides compassionate clinical care, collaborative and interactive knowledge, skills, abilities and services at the targeted goals and requirements of the department, the hospital and THR. RT Services include any setting: ambulatory, inpatient, outpatient or emergency services.

  • Teamwork, attendance, staffing, scheduling, timeliness, availability and work contribution appropriate for FTE status.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program is required

  • 1-year experience in Respiratory Therapy required and

  • 6 months experience in Pulmonary Lab or EEG/Neurodiagnostic Testing preferred

Required Certifications/Licenses:

  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required and

  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required or

  • R. EEG T. – Registered EEG Technician upon hire required or

  • RPFT – Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist upon hire required and

  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire required and

  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire required (ICU and ED only)

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to hear breath sounds and cardiac sounds w/ a stethoscope.

  • Must be able to see the computer read outs for ventilators and computers used in the provision of RT services & electronic health records.

  • Top Performer will have skills in Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Lab and EEG/Neurodiagnostics Testing.

  • Significant Performer will have skills in Respiratory Therapy and one of the following: Pulmonary Lab or EEG/Neurodiagnostics Testing.
