Work environment: Family Care
Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday – Friday 8am-5pm
Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) is a not-for-profit physician organization with more than 250 locations and 800 physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants dedicated to providing quality care in clinics and medical offices throughout North Texas.
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Two years of front office and back office healthcare experience in a clinical setting (required)
CMA - Current Certified Medical Assistant (required) or
LVN - Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (required)
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
NCT - Non-Certified Radiology Technician (preferred)
Knowledge of insurance authorization/billing requirements.
Demonstrated strong customer service and communication skills.
Organizational and time management skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Knowledge of clinic procedures and regulatory requirements.
Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
A team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
*Ability to accurately perform EKGs, draw blood and administer injections as needed by assigned clinic.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in one setting.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.
Demonstrate knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations.
Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency
Demonstrated attitude of respect and compassion towards patients, family members and all members of the healthcare
Good computer skills using a medical management application.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
A team player that can handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
Performs patient check-in at the time of visit and completes all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all clinic and regulatory policies are in compliance.
Answers phone calls and directs them appropriately.
Assists Practice Manager in ensuring policies and procedures are being followed both clinical and non-clinical.
Obtains accurate patient and insurance information, collecting copays and deductible amounts.
Directs and guides back and front office in monitoring and expediting workflow.
Prepares charts for patient appointments making sure all necessary information is complete.
Conducts all functions associated with patient check-out including pricing services, collecting patient responsibility payments and scheduling follow-up appointments.
Performs duties involving record filing and retrieval and assisting with the filing of registration documentation in electronic medical records.
Confirms next day appointments and alerts patients as to what documentation is needed, including details associated with time-of-service payment.
Follows up with patients regarding the Missed Appointment Policy and sends out the appropriate communications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be asked to function as a Medical Assistant which includes but is not limited to:
Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration, and perform routine tests such as EKG's.
Document plan of care, tests and examination results.
Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol.
Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
