Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant – PRN as Needed

  • Work hours: PRN as Needed

  • Salary range: $25.36 - $38.71 per hour (based on relevant experience)

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville is a full-service, 98-bed hospital serving Erath and surrounding counties since 1926. The hospital offers surgical services, women’s and infants’ services, advanced diagnostic imaging, sleep lab and a wound care program. Texas Health Stephenville has received accreditation as a Level IV trauma center, Cycle III Chest Pain Center by Society of Chest Pain Centers and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The hospital was named a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization and received Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Qualifications - External

  • Associate Degree or completion of a Therapist Assistant program (required)

  • Previous experience (preferred)

  • PTA - Texas Physical Therapist Assistant License (required)

  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care (required)

Position Responsibilities Texas Health Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants are responsible for obtaining/verifying physician order for therapy and validating for appropriateness. Reviewing available medical records and obtaining pertinent medical history from therapist documentation and patient report. Ensuring that patient has given informed consent to treatment.

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant will

  • identify problems that need further assessment by therapist and possible change to treatment plan.

  • demonstrate competence in the performance of age appropriate patient assessment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.

  • identify patient accomplishment of goals and report to therapist what goals need to be updated or revised therapy.

  • participate in discharge planning for patient.

  • use therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.

  • educate patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment.
